Publications

The socio-environmental problems generated by the Costa Rican banana industry have been minimized and concealed by the companies and politicians, as well as through the mass media. In our interest to contribute to the solution of these problems caused by conventional banana production, we have considered of vital importance the periodic and eventual production of diverse materials for circulation. In this section you will find the profiles of some of the publications of greatest importance to Foro Emaús, as well as some examples of these publications. Periodical Publications.

Our Journals:

The Voice of the Manatee
This is the official newsletter of our organization. We publish two or three editions each year. Its name alludes to the manatee (Trichechus manatus), an aquatic mammal whose habitat in Costa Rica is concentrated in the northeastern part of the country and is now in danger of extinction because of the expansion of the banana industry. The Voice of the Manatee is a publication that contains all information related to the activities of the organizational life of Foro Emaús and of the organizations that comprise its network.

Foro Journal
The content of this publication is mainly analytical. Since 1998, we have published four editions and we would like to continue publishing it annually. We hope to publish the next edition of this journal in 2003.
